Elder Morley Meets Mercy, Please Read

Two days ago, Elder JJ Morley met Mercy.  This is what he said about the occasion:

Today, I was able to find and meet with Mercy in Walukuba. She read my name tag, gasped a lot of air as she covered her face with her hands, and asked "Is it really you?" She was so surprised and instantly thanking me and thanking you.  She couldn't stop saying thank you.  She even was brought to tears. She sincerely thanks you and says she loves you so much!  She is a very strong woman and a great mother and wife.  They have been to the temple and everything! I was surprised! That is rare for Uganda members! She even has a mini salon and has a picture of the Monticello Temple on her wall.  I thought that was cool and I told her that is basically where you grew up. She gave us dleights (aka popsicle) my first in Uganda. 

The is Mercy's "Little Brown Purse".  I currently have 4 larger crocheted purses ($40 each)made by Mercy for sale.  Please help Mercy improve the life of her sweet family.  

Mother's Day Gifts With Meaning

Hello to all.  I believe that the best gifts are the ones that have great meaning and thought put into them.  I love to give these kind and to receive them as well.

Mother's Day is around the corner and I would like to suggest that you consider giving a gift to the special friends and mothers in your life that was hand made by women in Uganda.  These items beautifully represent hard work, industry, love and the tenacity of these amazing women.  All proceeds will be returned to them to help improve their very simple life style.  They have used previous sales for clothing, food, rent, school, and to purchase their own sewing machines so they can learn to be more self reliant.  

I hope that you'll consider these beautiful necklaces ($25), aprons ($25), and bags ($20-$30) for your special MOTHERS.  You can include the women's story with the gift for your mom to read and contemplate.

I'd especially like to help Mercy at this time.  She is the one who made the "Little Brown Purse" and is 26 yrs old with 8 children.  She teaches her children and is in need of supplies and other basic life necessities. She crochets purses ($40 each) and I have 4 left in stock. If you are interested I will post those pictures too.
